Castelul Peleș
Schloss Peleș
Peleș, in Sinaia, is the summer palace King Carol I built at the foot of the Bucegi in the late nineteenth century, and the most lavish royal interior in Romania: carved wood, stained glass, armour halls, a small theatre and room after room of European and oriental decoration, all set in a park above the town. It is about 48 km from Brașov.
Hours (official): Wednesday 10:00–17:00; Thursday–Sunday 09:15–17:00; closed Monday and Tuesday. Last individual entry is at 16:00, with timed entry slots and a daily visitor cap.
Closures: Peleș is closed from 2 November to 1 December 2026 for conservation work. Neighbouring Pelișor is closed from 28 September to 3 November 2026.
Tickets: the ground-floor and first-floor tour costs 100 lei for adults, 50 lei for pensioners and 25 lei for students. Photography without flash is allowed; tickets are non-refundable.
