Brașov weather, month by month

Brașov sits at about 600 metres in the Bârsa basin, ringed by the Carpathians, and its climate is continental in the full sense: cold, snowy winters, warm summers with afternoon storms, and a long, settled September that is the best month of the year. Poiana Brașov, twelve kilometres away and 400 metres higher, is colder still — and from December to March it is a ski resort. January is the coldest month, with an average daily high of 1°C and an average low of −5°C. Nights of −10°C are normal, and around 24 cm of new snow falls in town in an average January. The Brașov-Ghimbav station's record low is −33.3°C (January 2015).
