July is Brașov at full volume. The Old Town terraces are packed until late, the castle car parks fill by mid-morning, and the Prahova valley road between Brașov and Sinaia is at its slowest at weekends. It is also the warmest month, though at 600 metres the heat is rarely oppressive and the evenings stay pleasant.
The answer is timing. Be at Bran for opening and do Râșnov after, see Peleș on a Wednesday or Thursday, and keep the middle of the day for the mountain — Poiana is several degrees cooler, and the gondola takes you higher still. The high roads open for the summer, and the Transfăgărășan, a couple of hours west, usually opens in early July.
Late July is festival season around the city: Sighișoara Medievală fills the citadel two hours north, and Rockstadt Extreme Fest — now held at Ghimbav, next to the airport — brings metal fans from all over Europe.

- Rockstadt Extreme Fest, at Ghimbav since 2026, usually runs in the last week of July (2026: 27–31 July).
- Sighișoara Medievală is held in the second half of July (2026: 24–26 July).
- Bears come down to the edges of Poiana and Răcădău in summer: never feed them and keep bins closed. Feeding wild bears is illegal.
