One of Romania's best-known ski resorts sits in a high meadow at about 1,020 m, twenty minutes above Brașov's Old Town, under the 1,799 m summit of Postăvaru. In winter it is seven approved pistes and lifts that counted over two million passages in 2024/25; in summer, a bike park, forest trails and cool air. Since September 2024 it also has its first five-star hotel.

Opening typically falls between late November and early January, depending on how many nights drop below −4 °C for the snow cannons (2024/25 had 39). Closing is typically at the end of March. There is no official 2026/27 opening date yet; some aggregators estimate 19 December 2026 — treat that as a guess.

The rink by the Olimpic hotel (run by CSN Poiana Brașov) works in 90-minute sessions — three on weekday afternoons, five at weekends. The last published prices (2024) were 25 lei for adults, 10 lei for children and 10 lei for skate hire; reconfirm for 2026/27.
The Poiana Brașov riding centre, at the northern end of the resort, offers sleigh rides in winter (roughly 09:00–18:00, by reservation) and horse riding the rest of the year.

Six downhill and enduro trails on Postăvaru, from the 5.8 km Blue Line (578 m of descent) to the black Respawn and Crucur NH DH lines. Since summer 2026 bikes also go up on the gondola. In 2025 a bike day pass cost 180 lei (120 lei child) and a single ride 50 lei, with 50% off for Brașov residents on Fridays; 2026 prices need confirming.
The classic hike follows the red-cross waymarks from the road in front of the Poiana police station, via the Cristianul Mare clearing, to Cabana Postăvaru (about 1,600 m): about 1.5–2 hours and 600 m of ascent. From the hut to the summit the path is not waymarked; the whole route to the summit is about 6 km and 2.5–3 hours. Or ride a lift up and walk the ridge.
From Piața Sfatului to the gondola base is 12.2 km, about 21 minutes without traffic, up Strada Warthe and Drumul Poienii past Poiana Mică. On winter weekends it takes noticeably longer, and the last hairpins need winter tyres when it snows.
Livada Poștei ↔ Poiana Brașov. From Livada Poștei every 20 minutes between 07:00 and 18:40 (from 06:00 on weekdays, 06:30 at weekends), then every 30 minutes until 23:30; extra runs are added when it is busy. A single ticket is 5 lei for 90 minutes, a day ticket 20 lei; pay contactless on board or with 24pay. Transport is free on Fridays. Timetable valid from 5 June 2026.
In 2025/26, line 100 ran from the railway station straight to the Poiana cable cars (from the station at 09:15, 10:45, 12:15, 15:45 and 17:15), and line 60 shuttled every 35 minutes from Silver Mountain via the Poiana Mică car park to the cable cars (first run 08:30, last 19:55 from the cable cars). Both stop when the season ends; the 2026/27 timetables will be published by RATBV at opening.
Public car parks in Poiana currently cost 3 lei an hour or 24 lei a day, paid 08:00–20:00, free on Sundays. A proposal under public consultation until 9 October 2026 would raise this to 5 lei/hour on weekdays and 10 lei/hour at weekends, 08:00–22:00 every day — not approved at the time of writing. The multi-storey Poiana Mică car park (434 spaces) is the calm alternative: its parking ticket rides line 60 to the cable cars for free.

Emergency 112 · Salvamont Brașov dispatch 0725 826 668 (save it before you go up). Salvamont's base is at Str. Poiana Doamnei nr. 20B, Poiana Brașov, with a post near the top of the gondola. Weather on Postăvaru changes fast; fog and wind reach the ridge first.
