Short, steep and the highest in Poiana — the view is half the point
Kanzel is the highest piste in Poiana and the shortest of the official seven: 297 m (814 m with variants) and 109 m of vertical at about 1,650–1,760 m, right under the summit ridge of Postăvaru. It is graded black for its pitch, but at 50 m it is wide enough to pick your line. Up here the snow is more often natural and the season sometimes lasts longest — at the very end of 2025/26, Kanzel was among the last pistes still open. The flip side is exposure: wind and poor visibility hit the top first, and the snow can be wind-packed and firm. Most people use it as a steep opening to a long run down Sulinar or Drumul Roșu.
