The black of Poiana — 728 m of vertical down to the lowest point of the ski area
Lupului — “of the wolf” — is the long black run and the one racers know: the national giant slalom in February 2026, the rehearsal for the 2027 European Youth Olympic Festival, started from the top of the Ruia chair on its upper section. It drops 728 m over 2,605 m (3,266 m with its variants), from near the top of the gondola to the Lupului chairlift at about 975 m, the lowest point of the ski area. At 28 m it is not wide, and the steep upper pitches go hard and icy after cold nights and on busy afternoons. Come here for the first runs of the morning, when the corduroy is intact. The Ruia chair laps the top half, the Lupului chair the bottom.
