Piste Drumul Roșu
The longest run in Poiana — 4.7 km of easy switchbacks from the top to the village
Drumul Roșu (“the Red Road”) is the longest descent in Poiana: 4,752 m and 715 m of vertical from just under the Kanzel station to the base at about 1,050 m. It is graded easy to intermediate and it is the run that lets a second-week skier ride the cable car to the top and still come home on skis. The catch is the width: 22 m on average, the narrowest of the main pistes, so on peak weekends the flat traverses turn into a slow queue of snowplough turns and snowboarders sitting down. Go early or late, keep your speed on the long flats, and watch for faster skiers cutting across from Sulinar and Subteleferic where the runs meet near the bottom.
