In 2027 May is the month that holds Brașov's calendar together. Orthodox Easter falls on 2 May, with Good Friday and Easter Monday as public holidays around it, and a week later, on Sunday 9 May, the Junii Brașovului ride out: seven groups of young and old men in traditional costume, on horseback, from Piața Unirii in Șchei through the Old Town to the Pietrele lui Solomon. It is the oldest living custom in the city, free to watch, and nowhere else looks like it.
The weather is at its most generous: warm days, cool evenings, the mountains still streaked with snow on top and the valleys fully green. It is wetter than April, mostly in afternoon showers, and the hiking season opens properly on the lower trails — Tâmpa, the Pietrele lui Solomon, the path up from Poiana.
Late May usually brings the Brașov hill-climb race on Drumul Poienii, which closes the road to Poiana and suspends bus 20 for the weekend — check before planning a day on the mountain.

- Orthodox Easter 2027: Sunday 2 May. Good Friday (30 April), Easter Monday (3 May) and 1 May are public holidays.
- Junii Brașovului parade: Sunday 9 May 2027, starting around 11:00 from Piața Unirii in Șchei, reaching the Pietrele lui Solomon around 13:00. Free.
