Muzeul Prima Școală Românească
In the churchyard of St Nicholas in Șchei stands the building Romanians regard as the cradle of their schooling in Transylvania: a school attached to the church, closely linked with Deacon Coresi, who printed some of the first books in the Romanian language in Brașov in the sixteenth century. The museum keeps old manuscripts, printed books, icons and a reconstructed classroom, and it tells the story of the Romanian community that lived outside the Saxon walls.
Visiting is by guided tour only, about 30–40 minutes. Individual visitors should call ahead (0721 444 091) to join a tour. At the last check tickets were 20 lei for adults and 10 lei reduced; confirm for 2026. The museum is included in the Brașov Visit Ticket.
The address is Piața Unirii 2–3, about ten to fifteen minutes' walk uphill from Piața Sfatului through Poarta Șchei. Combine it with the church itself and a walk up to Solomon's Rocks.
