Night Skiing in Poiana Brașov (and Where Else to Ski After Dark)

The short answer

Night skiing in Poiana Brașov exists, but on a small scale, and it depends on the conditions of each winter. According to the official resort site, Bradul is the only piste in Poiana with a fixed night-skiing installation, and its drag lift ran until 18:00 in the 2025/26 schedule, two hours after the rest of the lifts closed at 16:00. During the 2025/26 season the lower part of Lupului was also floodlit on Friday and Saturday evenings when conditions allowed, according to the national news agency Agerpres. Neither is guaranteed for 2026/27 until the resort publishes its programme, usually just before the season opens.

If a long evening session under lights is the point of your trip, Poiana is not the resort for it. If you are staying in the village and would like a few extra runs after dark, it can be lovely — and there are several lit slopes within an hour of Brașov.

Bradul: the lit nursery slope

Bradul is 430 m long, 71 m high and 70 m wide, the widest and gentlest run in the resort, on the eastern side of the village by the base of the Capra Neagră cable car. Lit, it becomes a quiet, pretty place: families, beginners practising what they learned in the morning, a few locals doing quick laps after work.

• Who it suits: beginners and children, and anyone who wants an easy half hour of skiing before dinner.
• Who it does not suit: strong skiers looking for pitch — there is none.
• What to expect: a drag lift, short runs and, on busy evenings, a friendly queue. Our pistes for beginners guide describes the slope in daylight.

Lupului inferior: the Friday and Saturday bonus

The lower, easier section of Lupului runs down from around 1,150 m towards the Lupului chairlift and the village. In 2025/26 it was lit on Friday and Saturday evenings when snow and weather allowed, which gave intermediate skiers something more interesting than Bradul. The 2021 modernisation plan for the resort also promised floodlights on Drumul Roșu and Subteleferic; we have found no evidence that these were ever installed, so do not plan around them.

What it costs

No separate night-skiing tariff was published in the 2025/26 price list (checked September 2026). In practice, evening access followed the ordinary tickets — the afternoon passes (from 14:00, 100 lei for adults in 2025/26) or points, with the Bradul drag lift at 2 points a ride. Uphill after dark: evening ski touring on Drumul Roșu

Poiana has something rarer than floodlights: official permission to climb. The resort's rules allow uphill ski touring on Drumul Roșu in the evening, but no later than 22:00, entering from Bradul or from Pub Rossignol. Reflective clothing and a red rear light are compulsory — snow groomers work on the pistes at night, and their drivers need to see you from far away. It is a beautiful way to spend an evening: one to two hours of climbing through the forest, depending on your legs, by headlamp, the lights of Brașov below, then a careful descent on fresh corduroy. Lit slopes near Brașov

Several resorts within an hour have a stronger night-skiing tradition. Opening hours and prices change every season, so treat the following as last winter's picture and check with the operator before you drive:

• Predeal, Clăbucet — the short Clăbucet Sosire and school slopes at the bottom of the Clăbucet ski area have night lighting. Secondary sites listed night sessions from 17:00 to 21:00 at 125 lei for adults and 75 lei for children in 2026 (checked September 2026), and the lifts ran until 19:00 on Friday and Saturday. • Azuga, Sorica — the 2.1 km Sorica piste is listed with night skiing.
• Bușteni, Kalinderu — a 1,300 m intermediate piste with floodlights; in 2025/26 it was open until 18:00 on Saturdays with night skiing. See Sinaia and Bușteni.
• Bunloc, Săcele — the closest ski slope to the city (about 15 minutes), where the lower piste was lit roughly twice a week, announced on the operator's social media.
• Fundata / Moieciu — the small Moieciu slope in the Cheile Grădiștei area is reported to have night lighting and a T-bar.

Getting home

If you sleep in Brașov, the good news is that bus 20 keeps running in the evening: every 30 minutes from 19:00 to 23:30 on the 2026 timetable.
