The tourist tax and hotel practicalities
From 2026, 12 lei per person per night in Brașov and Poiana Brașov — a fixed amount, collected by the hotel, often not included in the price a booking site shows.
The tax
Since the start of 2026, every guest staying in Brașov or Poiana Brașov pays 12 lei per person per night: 7 lei promotion tax and 5 lei for Salvamont, the mountain rescue service. It is a fixed amount, not a percentage of the room rate, and it replaced the lower 2025 regime. The hotel or guesthouse collects it, usually on the final bill. For a couple staying four nights that is 96 lei — not much, but worth knowing when a booking site's total looks lower than the bill.
Check-in
Hotels ask for an ID card or passport at check-in, as everywhere in the EU. Check-in is usually mid-afternoon; in ski season, ask whether the hotel will hold skis and boots if you arrive before your room is ready.
