Emergencies, health and pharmacies
112 for everything, free from any phone. Pharmacies are everywhere in the centre; EU visitors should bring their EHIC, everyone else travel insurance.

Hospital
The main emergency hospital is the Spitalul Clinic Județean de Urgență Brașov, on Calea București. For anything serious, call 112 rather than making your own way there. Private clinics in the city offer faster appointments for non-urgent problems; your hotel can recommend one.
Pharmacies
Pharmacies (*farmacie*, green cross) are on almost every central street, and staff are used to advising on minor ailments. Some are open late or around the clock — ask at your hotel for the nearest. In Poiana Brașov there is a pharmacy in the resort, with shorter hours.
Insurance
EU and EEA citizens should carry the European Health Insurance Card (EHIC), which covers necessary state treatment on the same terms as Romanians. Everyone else needs travel insurance — and skiers should check it explicitly covers winter sports and mountain rescue.
Water
Brașov's tap water is treated and generally considered safe to drink; bottled water is cheap if you prefer it.
