Telecabina Tâmpa

The fastest way up Brașov's own mountain. The cable car, built in 1971, climbs about 573 metres of cable from the lower station on Aleea Tiberiu Brediceanu (around 640 m) to the upper station at roughly 960 m, a few minutes' walk below the summit viewpoint and the BRAȘOV letters. After more than a year out of service it reopened on 19 October 2025 with new 25-person cabins, full accessibility and permission to run at night — the only Romanian cable car allowed to do so.

Hours. Tuesday–Sunday 10:00–23:00, Monday 12:00–23:00 (maintenance on Monday mornings).

Prices (announced at the October 2025 reopening): return 45 lei for adults and 30 lei for children 6–12; one-way 30 lei and 20 lei. Reductions exist for under-6s and seniors. Confirm the 2026 tariff on the operator's site before you go.

The top station also has the Panoramic restaurant. A good plan is to ride up and walk down: the forest path back to the promenade under Tâmpa takes around 45 minutes and needs ordinary walking shoes. Go up late in the afternoon for the light over the Old Town, or after dark to see the city lit below.
