How Much Does a Ski Day in Poiana Brașov Cost? Passes, Rental, Lessons and Three Budgets

The short answer

A day on the slopes of Poiana Brașov costs, per adult, somewhere between about 400 lei if you rent basic kit, ride the bus and eat simply, and well over 1,400 lei if you take a private instructor, premium equipment and a long lunch. The single biggest line is the lift pass; the second is whatever you add on top of it — lessons, rental, food and the way you get up the mountain.

Everything below uses the official 2025/26 prices, the last season with a published tariff, checked in September 2026. The 2026/27 prices are set each autumn by Brașov City Council; in recent years the decision has come at the end of October (the 2025/26 grid, about 9% above the season before, was reported on 31 October 2025). The lift pass: 2025/26 official prices

The lifts, slopes and the gondola belong to Brașov City Hall; the two big cable cars, Kanzel and Capra Neagră, belong to Ana Teleferic — but a single pass covers them all. Adult / child (6–12) prices for 2025/26, as published by the City Hall (checked September 2026):

Two details worth knowing: the card itself carries a 20 lei deposit, and children under six ride free with a family member. Passes are sold at the ticket offices at the base stations and online on the official skibv.ro portal, where you reload the card; an online ticket is valid only on the date printed on it. Points cards: the smart buy for beginners

Instead of a time pass you can load points: 10 points cost 70 lei (one official page shows 75), 30 points 180 lei, 120 points 600 lei — 5 lei a point — and 240 points 1,020 lei. Each ride deducts points according to the lift and the period. In peak weeks the gondola and the Capra Neagră cable car cost 6 points, Kanzel 5, the Ruia chairlift 4, the Lupului chair 3, the Bradul, Ruia and Subteleferic drag lifts 2, and the Stadion beginners' lift just 1.

The arithmetic is simple. A beginner who spends the morning on the Stadion slope can do 30 runs for the price of a 30-point card, 180 lei — less than a day pass and with no clock ticking. An intermediate who rides the gondola eight times in peak season, on a 120-point card, spends 8 × 30 = 240 lei, exactly the day pass; below that, points win. Equipment rental

There is no official rental tariff in Poiana; prices are set by each shop. The ranges below are observed on operators' own websites and in their published lists, checked in September 2026:

• R&J Ski Center (scoalaski.ro) listed, for 2024/25, skis, boots and poles at 110 lei a day for adults and 100 lei for children; with a helmet 120 / 110 lei; a helmet alone 60 lei, goggles 60 lei, gloves 40 lei; race or "VIP" skis 250 lei.
• Across the rental shops we sampled, a complete beginner or intermediate set cost roughly 100–150 lei a day in 2025/26.

Instructors

Again, no official tariff — schools publish their own. The clearest public list we found (R&J Ski School, peak season 2024/25, checked September 2026) quoted one hour at 170 lei per person in a group of four or more, 180 lei for two or three people and 190 lei for a private lesson; off-peak, 150 lei in a group. Lift pass and equipment are not included. Other schools — Alpin Ski Academy, Ruia Snow School, instructor-ski.ro and several ISIA-trained independents — work on request; ask for a written quote and whether the hour is 60 or 50 minutes.

Lunch on the mountain

There is no fixed price to quote, and we will not invent one. As a reference, crowd-sourced data for Brașov put an inexpensive restaurant meal at about 55 lei and a three-course mid-range dinner for two at about 250 lei (Numbeo, September 2026). Mountain terraces and huts usually charge more than the city. In the budgets below we use an allowance — our estimate, not a menu price — of 55 lei (simple), 150 lei (comfortable) and 300 lei (long lunch with wine). Getting up there: bus or car

• Bus 20 from Livada Poștei runs all year, every 20 minutes in the daytime; a ticket costs 5 lei and lasts 90 minutes, a day pass 20 lei (RATBV fares, checked September 2026). On Fridays city buses, including the Poiana line, are free.
• Parking in the resort's public car parks costs 3 lei an hour or 24 lei a day today, charged 08:00–20:00, free on Sundays. A proposal under public consultation until 9 October 2026 would raise it to 5 lei an hour on weekdays and 10 lei an hour at weekends, 08:00–22:00 every day. It is not yet approved.

All figures use the 2025/26 lift prices and the rental and lesson prices listed above; food is our allowance.

Budget — about 415 lei

• Day pass: 240 lei
• Basic rental: 110 lei
• Bus 20 up and down: 10 lei
• Simple lunch: 55 lei

Comfortable — about 725 lei

• Day pass: 240 lei
• Rental with helmet: 120 lei
• One private hour with an instructor: 190 lei
• Lunch on a terrace: 150 lei
• Car, full day of parking at the current rate: 24 lei

Luxury — about 1,460 lei

• Day pass: 240 lei
• Premium "VIP" skis: 250 lei
• Three private hours at the listed hourly rate: 570 lei
• Long lunch with wine: 300 lei
• Taxi or ride-hailing both ways: an allowance of about 100 lei

A family of four (two adults, two children aged 6–12)

• Two adult day passes: 480 lei; two child passes: 280 lei
• Rental: 2 × 110 + 2 × 100 = 420 lei
• A one-hour lesson for the two children together, at the two-to-three-person rate: 2 × 180 = 360 lei
• Bus 20 for four, return: 40 lei (or parking, 24 lei)
• Simple lunch for four: 220 lei

Total: about 1,800 lei for the day. The biggest lever for a family is the lift pass: if the children are true beginners, a 30-point child card (110 lei) on the Stadion lift replaces a 140 lei day pass; and a child under six skis free.

Ten ways to spend less

1. Ski the afternoon. The pass from 13:00 costs 150 lei, from 14:00 just 100 lei.
2. Buy days in a block. Six days cost 900 lei — 150 lei a day instead of 240.
3. Use points while learning. The Stadion lift costs one point.
4. Ride on Friday. City buses to Poiana are free every Friday.
5. Avoid peak weeks. In the 2025/26 off-peak periods, the cable cars, the gondola and the chairlifts each cost one point less per ride.
6. Bring your own helmet and goggles.
7. Book lessons in a group. The per-person hourly rate drops as the group grows.
8. Live in Brașov? Residents of the municipality pay half on Wednesdays for the day, 4-hour and afternoon passes.
9. Eat down in the resort, or pack lunch.
10. Keep the card. The 20 lei deposit card can be reloaded online next time.
