Bastionul Graft

The Graft Bastion — Graftbastei — was built in 1515–1521 over the Graft, the stream that once ran along the northern walls, and it is one of the most photographed corners of the Old Town: a stone gallery bridging the water channel between the walls and the hillside. It belongs to the County History Museum.

Its interior has been reported closed for rehabilitation, and we could not confirm a 2026 reopening, so plan to see it from outside. That is no hardship: Strada După Ziduri, the lane that follows the outside of the walls, passes right beside it, and the stairs up to the White Tower start here. From the top, the Black Tower is a few minutes along the hillside.

Walking it all — the bastion, the lane, the two towers — takes about an hour at an easy pace and costs nothing. Afternoon light is best; after rain the stairs are slippery.
