Lacul Noua

Lacul Noua is the small lake in the forest at the south-eastern edge of Brașov, and for generations it has been where the city goes on a sunny weekend. There are rowing boats and pedal boats for hire in the warm months, a path around the water and playgrounds.

It is free to walk around at any time; boat hire and the attractions have their own prices and seasons. The city has announced plans to landscape the area and ban cars from the paths around the lake, so expect some works.

The Brașov Zoo and the Adventure Park are a few minutes' walk away, which makes this the obvious family day out from the city. On weekends, come by bus — the car parks fill, and the area falls inside the proposed "Zone 0" of the parking reform. The Noua & Dârste area guide has more.
