Biserica Sfântul Bartolomeu

St Bartholomew — the Bartholomäuskirche — is the oldest building still standing in Brașov. It was built between 1225 and 1260, before the walled town existed, at the heart of the first settlement, Brașovechi (Old Brașov), and its massive early-Gothic walls still show Romanesque details. It remains a Lutheran parish church.

The church stands at Strada Lungă 251, at the northern end of the long street that once linked the old settlement with the walled city. Its quiet churchyard makes a calm contrast with the crowds of the Old Town.

Visiting hours are not published consistently, so check locally or try a weekday morning; services take priority. From the Old Town it is a 25–30 minute walk along Strada Lungă or a short bus ride.
