Biserica Fortificată Hărman

Hărman — Honigberg, "honey hill", to the Saxons — lies on the plain about 12 km north-east of Brașov, and its fortified Lutheran church is the natural companion to Prejmer. A tall bell tower rises over a Romanesque-Gothic church, ringed by walls and towers where the villagers sheltered during raids; inside the enclosure, look for the chapel with its medieval wall paintings.

Hours: November–March, daily 10:00–16:00; April–October, Monday–Saturday 09:00–18:00, Sunday 10:00–18:00. Tickets: adults 15 lei, students and seniors 15 lei, children 6–10 5 lei, under-6s free (from the church's visitor information; confirm on arrival).

Every August the church hosts the Teutonic Fest (8–9 August in 2026), a weekend of medieval re-enactment. The rest of the year it is quiet, and forty-five minutes is enough. It is on the way back to Brașov from Prejmer, and trains on the Sfântu Gheorghe line stop in the village. See the Prejmer & Hărman guide.
